The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
Eclectus parrots show an exceptionally strong difference in colour between the sexes. Males are chiefly green with a pale upper bill; females have red and dark blue areas of plumage and a dark bill. They live in humid tropical island forests, collecting fruit, seeds, flowers and nectar in the canopy.
They breed in tree cavities. A female may guard a suitable opening for a long time while males bring her food. The availability of safe chambers in old trees influences nest-site selection and behaviour nearby.
This account refers to eclectus parrots formerly grouped broadly as Eclectus roratus. Newer classifications recognise some island populations as separate species, so the range of this whole group is wider than that of E. roratus in the strict sense.
Długość od końca dzioba do końca ogona: 35 cm (dolna granica opublikowanego zakresu, mniejszy przykład dorosłego ptaka); nie jest to wysokość stojącej papugi ani średnia populacji. Zakres źródłowy: 35–40 cm długości całkowitej; starsze, szerokie ujęcie taksonu Eclectus roratus. Wysokość tej postawy, około 22,5 cm, wynika z proporcji ilustracji. Przód zachowuje wysokość boku; szerokość i perspektywa pozostają przybliżone. Masa zachowuje zakres źródłowy i nie jest przypisana zilustrowanemu osobnikowi.
