Caspian gull — size comparison — facts and sources
The Caspian gull has a slender, elongated bill, a rather small dark eye and a distinctive sloping forehead profile. An adult has a white body, a grey back and black tips to the flight feathers. The legs are usually pale, flesh-grey.
Its breeding range has expanded from the Black Sea and Caspian region into further parts of Europe. The birds can be seen beside large rivers, reservoirs and coasts. They often gather in mixed flocks with other large gulls.
Young birds pass through successive plumages over several years and look quite different from the white-and-grey adult.
