The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The Carolina wren searches dense vegetation, crevices and places beneath roots and branches. It gathers mainly insects and spiders, often remaining close to the ground. Although well concealed, its loud, repeated song carries far beyond the nearest thickets.
The pair maintains contact with various calls and usually stays together outside breeding as well. It selects a sheltered corner for its nest. Near people it may use unusual places if they offer a safe chamber and easy access to surrounding feeding sites.
It is resident in many regions. Winter conditions can restrict access to invertebrates and affect survival, making sheltered feeding places particularly important.
