Brown Thrasher — size comparison — facts and sources
The brown thrasher spends much of its time under the cover of dense shrubs. It searches for food on the ground, moving leaves and litter with its bill. It eats insects and other invertebrates, as well as fruit and seeds.
In the breeding season the male sings from an elevated perch, making it easier to locate. Its song consists of numerous phrases, often repeated in pairs.
The nest, however, remains well hidden in vegetation or is placed low near the ground. It inhabits scrub, hedges and woodland edges, where shelter and feeding opportunities occur together.
