The blue-crowned hanging parrot is a small parrot of tropical forests, gardens and plantations. It gathers fruit, flowers, nectar and seeds among branches, usually in pairs or groups.
It climbs efficiently beside flowers and fruit. It can rest and sleep upside down, gripping branches with its feet, a characteristic hanging-parrot posture.
