The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The Baltimore oriole spends the breeding season in wooded areas of eastern North America. It searches tree crowns for insects and also uses fruit and nectar. Its whistled song helps reveal its presence even when it moves high among the leaves.
The female builds a distinctive hanging nest, weaving plant fibres into a flexible pouch. She places it at branch tips, making access harder for some predators.
After breeding it migrates south. Its wintering grounds include warmer regions of the Americas, and population persistence depends on conditions in different parts of its route.
