The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The American robin is among the most familiar birds of North American parks and gardens. Foraging, it runs a short stretch of lawn, pauses and watches for prey. It takes earthworms and other invertebrates from the ground and gathers fruit from shrubs and trees.
In spring males mark territories through song, and pairs rear offspring in open nests. The female forms a cup of plant material reinforced with mud. Young still require parental care after leaving the nest and do not immediately obtain all food independently.
After breeding it is more often encountered in larger gatherings. Changing fruit availability affects feeding-site choice and flock movements. Not all populations migrate identically; some birds remain where enough food is available through winter.
