The White Cloud Mountain minnow has a small, slender body with a bright iridescent line on olive-brown. Red markings decorate the fins and tail base. Natural sites occur in southern China and Vietnam; it has been introduced widely elsewhere.
It lives in groups among aquatic plants in clear, slow streams, taking zooplankton and detritus. Its habitats can be considerably cooler than those of many tropical aquarium fish.
