The cobalt zebra is a Lake Malawi cichlid with relatively uniformly coloured flanks. Its best-known intense blue forms give it its Polish name.

It inhabits rocky shores and was described from Nkhata Bay at around 3–4 metres. Likoma, Namalenje and Thumbi West populations resulted from within-lake translocations.
