The maroon clownfish has a dark red body with three pale bands. Females are larger and often darker than males. It occurs in the Indo-Australian region from India to Vanuatu and was formerly placed in Premnas.
It lives beside anemones in sheltered lagoons and coastal reefs, eating zooplankton and bottom algae. A large female dominates; after her loss the largest male may change sex. Substrate-attached eggs remain in the male's care.
Długość standardowa (SL): od końca pyska do nasady płetwy ogonowej. Długość zwykle spotykana według źródła, nie średnia populacji. Widok przedni ma przybliżone proporcje.
