The foxface rabbitfish has a yellow, laterally compressed body, elongated snout and dark mask on a pale head. It inhabits western Pacific reefs. Unlike the similar Siganus unimaculatus, it lacks a large black spot on the rear flank.

Fin spines are associated with venom glands and provide defence. When alarmed it may abruptly turn darker and blotchy, losing its uniform yellow appearance.
