Rainbow shark — size comparison — facts and sources
The rainbow shark has an elongated, dark grey or olive body and red fins. The red extends over the tail, dorsal fin and other fins, distinguishing its appearance from that of the red-tailed black shark.
It inhabits rivers and streams of Southeast Asia. It stays close to the bottom, including over sand. It gathers algae, surface growth and small organisms available in the water and on submerged surfaces.
During floods it may move into inundated areas. As water levels fall it returns to river channels. Changes in water level seasonally open access to new feeding places.
