Cockatoo dwarf cichlid — size comparison — facts and sources

The cockatoo dwarf cichlid comes from Amazon tributaries of the Ucayali and Solimões. Males have raised front dorsal-fin rays resembling a crest. A dark stripe follows the slender body. Females are less elaborate; the intensely red fins of many aquarium fish belong to bred varieties.

It stays near the bottom, using small shelters. A female attaches eggs to a shelter’s ceiling and remains beside them. She then tends larvae and young, defending the breeding site against intruders.

Długość standardowa (SL): od końca pyska do nasady płetwy ogonowej. Przykład, nie średnia populacji. Widok przedni ma przybliżone proporcje.
