The cleaner shrimp Lysmata amboinensis has red bands along the back’s sides, a pale middle line and very long white antennae. It stays near reef overhangs and crevices.

At established cleaning stations it receives visiting fish, collecting external parasites and tissue fragments. This provides food while removing some host parasites. It also eats other nearby small animal foods. The similar Atlantic Lysmata grabhami is a separate species.
