The bronze cory has a body protected by bony plates, an olive-brown metallic sheen and a paler belly. The captive-bred albino form looks quite different. The former name Corydoras aeneus is still common, although the species has been placed in Osteogaster.
It lives in groups in shallow waters with soft bottoms. Its barbels locate worms, crustaceans, insects and plant material. It can dart to the surface to gulp air. Oxygen is then also absorbed through the intestine, supplementing the gills.
Długość standardowa (SL): od końca pyska do nasady płetwy ogonowej. Przykład, nie średnia populacji. Widok przedni ma przybliżone proporcje.
