The Bolivian ram lives in the Guaporé and Mamoré basins in Brazil and Bolivia. Its pale body has a dark flank spot and eye stripe, while fin edges may be red. It is a separate species from the ram cichlid.
It lives near the bottom, where breeding also occurs. Eggs are laid on stones and may be covered with sand by the female. Hatchlings are moved to substrate depressions. Both parents defend developing offspring.
Długość standardowa (SL): od końca pyska do nasady płetwy ogonowej. Przykład, nie średnia populacji. Widok przedni ma przybliżone proporcje.
