Black skirt tetra — size comparison — facts and sources

The black skirt tetra comes from the Paraguay and Guaporé basins. Dark bands cross its silver body, while a broad anal fin resembles a black skirt. Colour contrast may fade with age.

It swims chiefly in middle and upper water, eating worms, small crustaceans and insects. Its natural silver-and-black pattern differs from colourful ornamental lines produced through various breeding methods.
