Achilles tang — size comparison — facts and sources
Acanthurus achilles has an almost black body with a large orange tail-base patch, less pronounced in juveniles.
It inhabits clear, strongly moving waters over Pacific outer reefs. Often feeding in groups, it eats filamentous and small fleshy algae. Hybrids with Acanthurus nigricans have been recorded where both occur.
